From the recording Moments
Jackie: This song came about when reflecting on childhood memories with friends. I was first introduced to the magazine in the mid sixties by my older sister who poured over every page and so carefully put the centrefold pop star pictures on our bedroom wall. They really did brighten the place up.
Lyrics
Jackie
Chours:
Jackie, Jackie, I first heard your name way back in 65.
Jackie, Jackie, you paint a picture of our lives.
To you we'd send our letters spilling out our hope and fears
Cathy and Claire we hoped would solve them all
We hung on every word they said, not knowing where to turn,
Gave us hope and strength to carry on.
Chorus 2
Jackie, Jackie, . Bold and beautiful you brought our world to life
Jackie, Jackie, you really helped us to survive
Each week a centrefold to take and hang upon the wall.
This shed light Where none had been before
The glamour in those pictures, smiling down on us
Made us think we could be so much more
The letterbox flew open
And you dropped to the floor
Into your pages we would disappear
The paperboy was long gone, reading stories of the war
You gave the girls the keys for life for sure
Chorus and outro
Jackie, Jackie, I first heard your name in 65
Jackie, Jackie, you paint a picture of our lives
You really helped us to survive,
OUTRO: Ooh, Jackie you’ve been on my mind lately etc
